Providing trauma-informed care for individuals impacted by trauma in NSW
Offering counselling in English, Portugues (Brazil), and Spanish (South America)
Most clients come to see me when they are facing difficult times or feeling without direction, not knowing how to move forward, and feeling like everything has become too much. Sometimes, clients feel frustrated and confused, not understanding the root cause of their problems, or why certain things (even some things that don’t seem to be such a big deal) impact them so greatly.
The focus of my intervention is not only to address symptoms that are present now (or have been for a while), but also to work together with the client to help them understand the origin of those symptoms.
I use evidence-based interventions such as cognitive therapy, behaviour therapy, and schema therapy. Those interventions promote self-awareness and insight, putting clients in a better position to manage symptoms and instil long-term change.
I have an eclectic approach to therapy. We are all individuals and our needs differ greatly from one another. The client and I will discuss a treatment plan that will be most suitable for their needs.
Therapy is not a ‘one size fits all’!
I have special interest in working with young people aged from 15 to 25, but I also provide services for adults and seniors. I offer treatment for ADHD, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, relationship problems, stress management, anger management, gender identity and complex trauma.
I have a special interest in working with youth. In this age group, I also specialise in ADHD, bullying, low confidence, school avoidance, gender identity and self-harming behaviours.
Youth, oh youth…Perhaps my passion for working with youth stems from my struggles in adolescence as a female with ADHD in the 1980s and 1990s. My teenage years were very draining emotionally, both for myself and my family. I can relate to a lot of struggles impacting youth today and I find it very rewarding to be able to help young people navigate through those difficult years of their lives by giving them a safe place for them to talk about their struggles and to feel heard.
I am a clinical psychologist and have been providing counselling in Australia for nearly 15 years. Originally from South America, I am fluent and offer counselling sessions in both Portuguese (Brazil) and Spanish (South America).
